Brixen/Latsch, Italy – 07.03.2010 – Durst, a leading manufacturer of industrial strength digital inkjet printers for the wide format graphics, ceramic tile markets, flooring and label market has installed the  world wilde first Tau 150i UV Inkjet – High Speed - Decor Printer at the European leading manufacturer of wooden profiles and skirting boards  Karl Pedross AG in Latsch, Italy.

Karl Pedross AG is a family owned company with a long history and tradition, and due to its spirit of perpetual innovation entered already in the 1970`s the niche market of natural skirting boards. The merger with Bürkle & Profile GmbH in 2006 marked an important step in achieving the group's vision of being a full-range supplier and a worldwide market leader in the moulding and flooring accessory industry.

To produce innovative flooring products in an age where designs and market trends are constantly changing are big challenges for manufacturing companies of this industry.  With a market that is demanding faster turnaround times, shorter runs of only a few hundred linear meters, a digital printing process for short-run production will become essential to offer more flexibility in the decorating process, to minimize inventories and at the same time drive their costs down. As a leading manufacturer of this industry, Karl Pedross AG has therefore decided to install the completely new Durst Tau 150i UV Inkjet – High Speed Decor Printer.  

The Durst Tau 150i is an industrial-scale high speed direct digital roll-to-roll printer for printing on substrates like décor paper, veneer and foils in print widths of up to 14 cm, offering significant economic benefits as well as superior design advantages over traditional methods.

Compared to the limitations of conventional decoration techniques this new, no-touch, digital printing technology offers unlimited image variations, no setup costs thus ideal for short run print jobs, far superior image quality, definition and dynamic range. It prints onto various substrates (décor paper and plastic film, wood veneer) and with just 4 colors all colors and shades are reproduced.

Tau 150i with its streamlined digital workflow and outstanding printing speed of close to 50 linear meters per min (160 feet per min) is an industrial-scale high perfornmance production printer, which ideally complements the Durst single pass wood decoration printer Rho SP60 of which one is installed at the leading flooring manufacturer Kaindle (Salzburg), set for new dimensions in the flooring industry.
