Coupled with Durst’s proprietary firing impulse software, which controls the precise setting of ink drops at high frequency, ensure the printing of fine text (as small as 4 point) even on polyester fabrics without wicking, as well as strong solid colours and step-free color shades. Brush-stretch rollers and a tension regulation device transport even thin fabrics precisely and crease-free through the printing equipment. The UV lamps, with dichroitic coated reflectors, are adjustable in steps and cure the UV inks even on temperature-sensitive media.
The highly precise fabrication of the carrier plate and the micro meter exact assembly of the slots result in equally spaced jet distances of 127 microns with an excellent straightness of the fluid coming out of the jets.
The compact and modular construction of the Durst Quadro print head makes the simple integration of several print heads in the Rho with different alignment arrangements possible. This influences the resolution as well as the ink dot placement and allows flexibility in the design of print head architecture.
The 512 jets are controlled by eight independent actuators, of which each controls 64 independent jet channels. The single jets are controlled through a serial parallel converter and are arranged in 4 rows. Addressing of the jets can occur individually or in a simultaneous fashion.
The Durst Quadro reaches top quality of the print through outstanding constant drop volume at high consistency of the drop speed and drop form. Next to the above described electronic, the Durst designed intelligent ink supply to the jet outlets is also part of achieving a top quality print.
The ink is led through an ink inlet to the intermediate tank with an ink filter and an electronic standard monitoring system. It then proceeds to the "lung" where it is degassed by an osmotic filter. It is heated in the ink lines within the print plates with high consistency, and kept in motion and led to the piezo print system. The lung and ink leading system in the Quadro head allow for an operation of the piezo head of up to 20 KHz at high dependability and drop geometry consistency. The printing system can take up to 24 Quadro arrays for CMYK, White and Varnish. The jet head alignment is designed in a way that the white print occurs simultaneously in one process step with the CMYK.
Next to the CMYK ink supply Durst is the first company in the world that also supplies the color "White". A separate ink supply system with anti sedimentation system makes a white print in combination with CMYK possible.
The roll support at the loading side allows the use of pneumatic 3” or optional available 6” core axles with a media outside diameter of up to 450 mm (17.7 in.). A specially designed device allows the loading of 3500 mm (11.5 ft) wide media by a single person.
A precise tracking sensor guarantees the perfect straightness of the media while printing (max. +/- 0.5 mm (0.02 in.) deviation on 10 mtr (33 ft) of printed length). Large rubber transport rolls and stretching rolls guarantee the smooth transport of the media over the vacuum printing plate. The transport also offers easy loading with a low media waste when media is changed (max. 70 cm/28 in.).
The printed media is rolled up automatically and controlled by a tension control device on a take up roll.
Double sided printing
By means of a printed mark between two pictures which are automatically mirrored and a detecting device, double sided printing with high precision (max. deviation +/- 5 mm/0.2 in.) is an outstanding feature of the equipment.
Cutter
The integrated manual cutting device secures operation-friendly cross cutting.
Textile Printing
Textile (Fabrics) Printing – Printing on porous materials (mesh).
The unit is equipped with a special textile printing device (a tray with ink-absorbing media which lays on the lowered print-plate) which allows printing of porous media without back layer.
The high pigmenta-tion of the ink provided high colour density with wide colour gamut. The output is immediately usable after printing without any post-treatment.
The high flexibility of the ink ensures that uncoated fabrics can be printed without wicking and UV pre-coated fabrics show no white breaks.
Thanks to the properties of the Rho Roll inks flame-proof material retain their properties also after printing.
The software functions include:
• Media channel, archiving for the selected tension for each media the selected, UV lamp step, pass, tension selection, vacuum strengths, and “tuning option” to compensate temperature related media characteristics
• Stepless Skip white function (passes over unprinted areas in XY direction)
• Queue function with selection criteria
• Backlit function in order to print double ink layer in one printing process
• Interface to external order management
• Efficient workflow with color management based on external Caldera RIP Server
• Automated workflow using RIP-Job- tickets and hot folders with saved speed-passes, color management and simultaneous administration of queue and hot folders.
The basic version with 8 Quadro Heads can be upgrade to a 16 Head model, and a standard CMYK-version additionally equipped with White and/or Spot Colours.
